Manuscript submission guidelines and requirements
Red Dirt Forum is an online publication that features contemporary voices of the Southern United States. Genres include poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction and photography. Author interviews by publisher query only. RDF is also dedicated to highlighting themes of social justice as they interface with the New South. Work is published monthly; submissions are accepted year-round.
To be eligible to submit work, authors must be eighteen or older. No Chat-Assisted (AI) work is permitted. Simultaneously submitted work is allowed. Yet, contact us promptly if work is accepted elsewhere.
Send submissions to: ··· with the subject “FORUM”. Attach work in Word format, not PDF, and include full name, email information and brief author bio. Three poems, two prose pieces, maximum. If we wish to see more, we will let you know. Photography submissions: up to 10 photographs.
Submit a letter of query that pertains to theme, style, and how work “fits” the mission of Red Dirt Press to ··· with the subject “PRESS”. You may optionally list recent publications but this does not drive our decision. For works of fiction and non-fiction, plot-synopsis is not fundamental; we are most interested in theme, character development.
No Chat-Assisted (AI) work is permitted for use of letter of query or any part of the manuscript.
Only letters of query sent to the indicated email address will be responded to. We do not read unsolicited manuscripts or return them to senders. A letter of query does not guarantee that a writing sample will be requested.
